The little cartoon of Sakura whacking Itachi on the head with a stick is one of the funniest things I've seen in a long, long time...

Also, Itachi has incredibly girly eyes. (Well, incredibly girly everything, really.) This isn't a new concept for me, but it seemed especially apparent in this episode.

Gundam Wing
My full and final thoughts on Gundam Wing )

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
I enjoyed this one; it keeps you on your toes. The plotline is completely mixed up throughout the episodes, so the story flows like the movie Pulp Fiction. The first episode doesn't seem to make any sense...Which turns out to be fine, because it doesn't need to; it's set in the form of a student film. That episode is just funny; it looks like something you and your friends could produce if you had a camera and a script designed to make fun of shoujo anime like Sailor Moon.

The basic plot of the entire story is that this girl, Haruhi, somehow contains a secret of the universe. And she has no idea. Aliens, time-travelers, and psychics all show up to monitor her covertly, and whenever she becomes emotionally unbalanced, she causes disturbances in the fabric of the universe. The main character, Kyon, is just a normal kid who's become caught up in this whole mess and tries desperately to make sense of it all.

I love Kyon...He narrates the whole anime in the Greek Chorus style, and his comments (especially the sarcastic ones) are classic. I love it when he breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to the audience. (Which generally run along the lines of something like, "Gah! What the hell?! Uh...If any of you actually know what's going on here, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. Seriously.")

The last episode made me laugh. Cut for spoilers )

So, yeah....Good stuff. Big thanks to Chris for providing me with the highest quality anime, per usual.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and Last Order

Rurouni Kenshin
So I finally finished the Rurouni Kenshin manga, and I have to say that I love it immensely. Like any great anime, it has filler episodes that just drive me crazy, but you can't help adoring the overall story. The art style of the manga is incredible, as well as the pacing and suspense in the stories. I can't believe that the Jinchuu Arc was never animated....It was incredible.

Seriously....If you haven't read this manga, get in touch with me. I'll send it to you personally; you need to read it.

FVII: Advent Children
I also ordered myself a copy of Advent Children when I got home from school; it finally came in a couple days ago, and I loved it. Of course, I'd seen the subbed version online, but that pales in comparison to the real deal. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to as soon as possible. It has all the fight scenes that The Matrix wishes that it had.

I liked the Japanese version better, of course, because the voices are perfect and the jokes and such make more sense. But the dub was quite good as well.

If you haven't seen it yet, let me know and we'll have a movie night sometime after the wedding when everything settles down.

xxxHolic
And then there's xxxHolic; true to form, CLAMP has produced a visual orgasm. The manga is literally beautiful. My sister is into fashion and such, so I would call her in from time to time to see what Yuuko's wearing. Gorgeous.

Don't even get me started on Watanuki and Doumeki. Heee!

I read all the way to volume eight, but the version that I have of it won't open on my computer. It's a file that my laptop doesn't understand. But no worries; I found a website that had some of volume eight, so I'll get to see it there.

But I'd still like to send out a huge thank-you to [livejournal.com profile] lumivalkea for uploading so much manga for those of us that can't get a hold of it normally. (And another huge thank-you to Lumi's esteemed Onee-san [livejournal.com profile] aya_katsera for providing the manga in the first place.) I'm going to start reading X/1999 in earnest now, so thanks again for that as well!

And...icons. I've been having way too much fun with that. But my beloved laptop doesn't have internet access when I'm at home, so I won't be able to upload them and share until I can either magically connect to the web or start transferring them to another computer that has a connection. Which would be kind of a pain; but no worries. I'll figure it out.

In the meantime, I don't think you guys are really going to miss my random icon dumps.

Wow, there's a lot to say. But I'm tired, so that'll have to wait.

But I might as well display my achievements...

Fullmetal Alchemist: Episodes 1-51
Rurouni Kenshin: Episodes 1-19 Manga Volumes 1-15 Manga Volumes 16-28

Oh, and for those of you at follow the Naruto manga: Holy crap and a half! Chapter 306...The fandom has exploded. It was definitely worth the wait, though, and I'm on pins and needles for the next chapter. I've heard a few people say that Sasuke looks the same; well, of course he does. Naruto and Sakura "look the same" too, if you look at it that way. It's only been two years, and even though they're growing kids, they're not going to look shockingly different.

In my opinion, I think they've all matured in little ways; it would be unrealistic to expect them to be drastically different. I think the reaction to Sasuke came out the way it did is because everyone was terrified of him being horribly, drastically different (because of his living with Orochimaru, becoming an evil minion, etc.). Personality-wise, Sasuke's changed the most (which makes sense). He's been allowed to stew in his own angst for years, and none of his darker personality traits have been balanced against a brighter personality (such as Naruto's influence in the past). Normally, if Sasuke were acting snobby or self-centered, Naruto would immediately call him on it and pick a fight. But now he's Orochimaru's precious future vessel, so he gets what he wants, when he wants it; and if he has an attitude, no one's going to mention it.

...Hee, what a bitch! As if he hadn't been an emo prima donna to begin with... ^.~
