So Margo's having another volleyball tournament this weekend, and I'm holding down the fort while my family's gone. These solitary weekends have been happening quite often during the past month or so, but I really don't mind. Of course, once I'm back in England, I'll wish that I'd had more time with my family...But in the meantime, I'm enjoying the peace and quiet.

I suppose the only downside is that I don't have a car, but that's easily canceled out by how rested and relaxed I am. I think I'll go take a swim, then lay out by the pool for a while. Or maybe walk over to the beach. I only have five more days left in Florida, so I should enjoy it while I still can...

April, if you still feel like hanging out and doing some shopping, give me a call.

Becky, I burned several DVDs for you; just let me know when you're free, so we can work out when I can hand them over.

And if anyone else wants me to burn them a series or two as well, just let me know. I have just about anything you could imagine, including old shows like Tiny Toon Adventures, Talespin, Animaniacs, Pirates of Dark Water, Rocko's Modern Life, etc. (Now all I have to do is find Ghost Busters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.) Ah, those were the good old days...

And since a day of idleness wouldn't be complete without some time wasted on quizzes...

Because like Pringles, one quiz is never enough... )

Oh, and have an OST or two while you're here...
Final Fantasy: Advent Children (111 Mb)
Ouran High Host Club (226 Mb)

True to form, my journal has been sitting idle for a couple weeks. There are major events in my life that have been completely skipped over because I've just been too busy to write it all down. For the sake of expediency, I'll just make a list.

Cassie's Quick And Dirty List of Major Life Events:
  • I was involved in a play...for the last two months. (It was a pantomime of Cinderella; most of you don't even know what a pantomime is, but just trust me when I say that it was great and hilarious and I'll be telling little anecdotes about it nonstop for the next month or so that I'm home. I'm actually quite mad at myself for not cataloging the entire process here, but like I said before, there wasn't time. Woe.) I've heard that the next play is Alice in Wonderland, and I really want to try out for it.
  • Chris sent me a care package filled with- you guessed it- anime. Not to mention an invitation to Tampa (for more anime and Busch Gardens) that I'm anxious to uphold. Needless to say, that made my week.
  • Katie (aka [livejournal.com profile] ktroo85) turned twenty-one, and her party was an absolute blast. I love murder-mystery parties, and this one was just fabulous. (And so was the cake; I'd never had marzipan before.)
  • I bought a red dress for the ball scene in the panto, and ended up loving it with the burning passion of a thousand suns. It's now my undeniable favorite, and I'm definitely bringing it home with me. The shoes I bought to go with it are also gorgeous to the point of being sinful. Talk about money well-spent...
  • I am now obsessed with Doctor Who. And, knowing me, no one is surprised. (Geek, geek, geek!)
  • I'm flying home tomorrow, and I can't wait.
Oh, by the way, here's a quiz or two...Or eight... )

Okay, it's definitely time to sleep.

You can tell that it's a lazy Sunday morning.

The Sonnet
Deliberate Gentle Love Dreamer (DGLDf)

Romantic, hopeful, and composed. You are the Sonnet. Get it? Composed?

Sonnets want Love and have high ideals about it. They're conscientious people, caring & careful. You yourself have deep convictions, and you devote a lot of thought to romance and what it should be. This will frighten away most potential mates, but that's okay, because you're very choosy with your affections anyway. You'd absolutely refuse to date someone dumber than you, for instance.

Your exact opposite:
Genghis Khunt

Random Brutal Sex Master
Lovers who share your idealized perspective, or who are at least willing to totally throw themselves into a relationship, will be very, very happy with you. And you with them. You're already selfless and compassionate, and with the right partner, there's no doubt you can be sensual, even adventurously so.

You probably have lots of female friends, and they have a special soft spot for you. Babies do, too, at the tippy-top of their baby skulls.

ALWAYS AVOID: The 5-Night Stand, The False Messiah, The Hornivore, The Last Man on Earth

CONSIDER: The Loverboy

Ever since I was a small child, I've had this thing for vampires. I have no idea why, but they were the only thing that could really scare me.

There was never a "boogie man" waiting in my closet; it was always the dangerous, exciting chance that there might be a vampire. I mean, come on. My closet is connected to our attic, which is connected to my neighbor's attic. And you never know if the little old lady next door might be dumb enough to invite a vampire inside...

You scored as Marius. You are the quiet cool. You are so mellow people are lulled into a false sense of security. When you are pissed god help anyone who crosses you?

Whose your Vampire personality? (images)
created with QuizFarm.com

Yeah, even when I first read The Vampire Lestat, I thought about this. I think that if I were ever a vampire, I would be the most like Marius. I would definitely sit back and be a kind of benevolent "Witness of the Ages". And besides, I'm a total hedonist. Red velvet luxury would be my thing.

Yes, quizzes.

What feeling represents you? )

That one figures...

What Shakespeare character are you? )

Heh, this certainly brings back memories, doesn't it guys? Oh, how I love The Bard...

What Lover are you? )

This is actually extremely accurate. It's almost scary, really.

Nerd, Geek, or Dork? )

I spent the whole day reading, which really made me feel a sense of accomplishment. I managed to read three days' worth of science in one.

Awesome.

If I keep this up, I might actually be able to leave the house soon.

The Aussie and British part amuses me, of course. And it's fun to check out your results, because they're pretty accurate. There's no accidental way to cheat on this thing. You can't guess which answers would give you which results. (They don't ask you easy things, like what a "wanker" is.)

Yes, I'm still awake from last night. I'm trying to nip this whole "Yay, I'm nocturnal" thing in the bud today. I'll be trying to stay up through the entire day, so if you're bored, feel free to drop me a line or give me a call. The only way I'll be able to pull this off is to keep my mind constantly occupied, so any distractions would be lovely.

I saw a beautiful sunrise today when I took my dogs for their morning walk, and the beauty of the day because even more ethereal when a flock of white ibises decided to stroll through my backyard. Sometimes it pays to live in a neighborhood that doubles as a bird sanctuary. Of course, Siriah (my little dachshund) wanted to take a closer look and spooked them. They took off, almost as one, and wheeled away over my roof. I've actually never been that close to a flock of large birds, and it's hard to describe the sound of their wings. It was like a combination of a rustle and a whisper of sound. Now I can understand why ancient people would decide that angels should have large white wings. Lovely way to start my morning.

I'm going to be spending a lot of my free time today on the next segment of [livejournal.com profile] our_resistance, and I'm going to post it by the end of today. Or die trying.

For those of you that are bored, I bring you various quizzes )

Some are pretty silly, but all are worth giving a shot when you have nothing better to do. I found them to be reasonably accurate, but then again, maybe I have the kind of personality that's easily stereotyped into blog quizzes.

As for the past weekend, it was quite fun. Several "firsts" for me. Shini and Irene invited me to come along with them to a garage band concert. In fact, they were willing to actually drive back to get me, and were also willing to wait for me to get ready. It was very sweet of them. As for the event itself, I have to say that I was impressed. Not all of the music was to my usual tastes, but I have to say that everyone who performed there was a true musician.

Cold receptions, thy name is Kaleidoscope. Heh, but then again, I was expecting as much. You can't be friends with everyone in the world, and I'd have to say that I'm more of an "acquired taste" anyway. In any case, it was nice to see Garrett, and he made my time there enjoyable as well. It seems that we missed seeing the other [de]Toxic Soapers there, but hey, you can't win them all.

My other first is my first pimping. That's right. Someone, without being coerced at all, put a good word about [livejournal.com profile] our_resistance in their own journal. And that someone was a lovely young lady by the name of Rachel ([livejournal.com profile] sinister_beauty). If you haven't had the pleasure of her acquaintance yet, I would highly suggest heading over to her journal and dropping her a line. She's been trying to accumulate one thousand comments, after all.

It's a worthy cause, I assure you.

You scored as A Romantic. You're a romantic through and through. You may not ever have very many partners, but it's ok. You know that it's about the person who you're having it with, and that the sex is more of a fun biproduct - a very fun biprodict. You know how to make your partner happy, and that's what it's all about.

And yet another quiz, filched from Kari.

Your Rising Sign is Capricorn

Old fashioned and conservative, you carry yourself with dignity.

You have a tough exterior, and you can be intimidating when you want to be.

Hard working and ambitious, you can survive in the most cut throat work enviroments.

Outside of work, you are a true friend to everyone in your small inner circle.

You may have had a difficult time earlier in life.

Capricorns are late bloomers and you may be coming into your own right now.

Again, interesting. The "late bloomer" thing caught my eye, because it's very true.

Is my Spring here yet? And am I even a rose?

Maybe just some ivy. Ah, well. At this point, I'm just glad that I lasted the Winter at all...

Here's a quiz that I ganked from Ross.

Love
You need love.
You are a pretty normal, well-rounded person
that just craves that fairy tale love where you
will be swept off your feet and live happily
ever after. Chances are that you fantasize or
dream about it so much that you either see all
the guys/girls as unromantic or you tell
yourself that anyone could be your soulmate.
You long to have someone by your side and you
want to get back on the romance part too, not
just give.

What Do You Need in Your Life? [dark pics]
brought to you by Quizilla

Interesting.
sangre_fria: (Default)
Quite accurate, I must say.

Your Birthdate: January 4

Being born on the 4th day of the month should help make you a better manager and organizer.

You may be more responsible and self-disciplined than you realize.

Sincere and honest, you are a serious and hard working individual.

Your feelings are likely to seem somewhat repressed at times.

The number 4 has something of an inhibiting effect on your ability to show and express affections, as feeling are very closely regulated and controlled.

You are apt to be much more practical, rational, and conscious of details.

There is a good deal of rigidity and stubbornness associated with the number 4.

Your Seduction Style: The Charmer

You're a master at intimate conversation and verbal enticement.
You seduce with words, by getting people to open up to you.
By establishing this deep connection quickly, people feel under your power.
And then you've got them exactly where you want them!

I have to admit that this one is very accurate, expect I don't like the thought of manipulating people like that.

When I have deep conversations with my friends, it's not a tool to achieve power over them. I make deep connections with people because I genuinely care about them.

I really do enjoy blabbing, though.

Just took a little quiz in the midst of all my homework...

Your Brain is 53.33% Female, 46.67% Male

Your brain is a healthy mix of male and female

You are both sensitive and savvy

Rational and reasonable, you tend to keep level headed

But you also tend to wear your heart on your sleeve

Very interesting, I should say.
