Blast from the past...
Oct. 25th, 2005 08:53 pmYeah, I know this is old. But I think it applies more to me now, since I'm actually in college, and looking back is more meaningful that way.
Chances are people you don't even know are being introduced to your journal every day, either randomly or through someone else. In addition to recent entries, people can get to know you better by what you posted in the past. With that in mind post a link to your entries on this day three months ago, six months ago, nine months ago, a year ago, and two years ago. If there was no entry on that day, link the closest date.
Three months ago… I was trying to get back on a regular sleep cycle after being nocturnal for so long. So stayed up the whole night and the whole day. I was also swearing to finish and post the next bit of Our Resistance, which I did manage to do, surprisingly enough. Random, but somewhat cool, quizzes. And I mentioned going to my first garage band concert and having
our_resistance pimped for the first time. That was a big deal for me. Of course, that was the first and last time, but hey, I’m happy. The very fact that people like it at all just blows me away. And my current music was “The Red” by Chevelle, which deserves mentioning in its own right, because it’s just that awesome of a song.
Six months ago… Total angsty post, apologizing for being grumpy and cynical at the time. I was crazy-busy and under a ton of stress, and Ms. Rehm had made a point to “chat” with me after class, even though I hadn't done anything to her. She thought my bad mood was a personal attack on herself and her teaching methods. It all worked out fine, but it really wasn’t a good day. But Kari, Richard, and Christa posted words of encouragement, which helped. Thanks, guys; you’re the best.
Nine months ago… The only entry this month was the one about my second surprise birthday party within one week. After all these years of no parties, this really knocked my socks off. My mom and all of you guys went all out for me, and I couldn’t have been more surprised…It was crazy. I found out that day that I was going to Ultra, which really made it special. It was just a relaxed, fun party with all of my friends, and it’s one of those nights I’ll never forget. (And since we had watched Anchor Man, I had to quote it at least once in there…)
A year ago… I was insanely busy. It’s funny to think that all those college interviews were absolutely pointless in the end. I gave a brief commentary on each day of Spirit Week, and then Homecoming itself. Good times…I miss it, actually. Things are a bit different over here. The Class of ’05 had such wacky, humorous unity; we had a blast with being Seniors, and very few people were afraid of “making fools of themselves” or “messing up their hair”. No doubt about it….West Shore’s ’05 was special, in about every way you can be special. Jesse was still with us, and I tell you what, there is nothing more fascinating than trying to sit down and eat like a civilized human being when Jesse’s around. Dinner becomes a three-course circus. I miss that. I miss all the looney [de]Tox guys; they’re the brothers I never had, in more ways than one. Oh, and walking out of the dance with two maracas down my dress is a thrill I’ll probably never have again.
Two years ago…I’ve only had a LiveJournal for about a year and a half, now. I was more or less the last person to get one, and both Laura and Molly had been hounding me about it for months beforehand. I miss walking leisurely to class and being told to “stop being a muffin”...
